The Cookie Ninja 😋

Cookies were Tommy’s world. His mom knew him and she does her best.
The sole decree was: no cookies pre-dinner.
On one particular afternoon, when the fragrance of cookies baking reached all over the house and made him drool only to be outdone by his loudly groaning stomach. He knew he needed to hold out but the cookie jar on the counter wailed, ‘taste me once and be amazed.
“Just one…” Tommy later poured to himself, and he approached the glass jar on his tiptoes running towards it. Very slowly lifting the top as quietly as he could. Tommy eyed the cookies, went and grabbed one, and then—his mother caught him with cookie jar opener in hand.
“Tommy!” Turning toward him with a smile, she asked: “What are you doing?
Tommy smiled quickly, “I was just…. uh counting the cookies. Oh you know, for the rest of us after dinner.”
His mother tipped her head to the side slightly as if she were holding in a belly laugh. Yep, but you counted how many cookies?
Tommy looked into the jar and, realizing that he hadn’t taken one said, “All of em! There are plenty. We’re safe!”
His mom laughed, winking at him. “Nice try, Tommy. Don’t forget, no cookies before dinner! “Can you help me set the table at least now?”
Tommy agreed, a hurried meal would give him the opportunity for his all time favorite. An this time, he would get to do it in public.
